CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS (Sunday 26 February 5.00pm)

CAVE OF FORGOTTEN DREAMS (Sunday 26 February 5.00pm)

The Chauvet Cave was discovered in 1994 in the Ardeche gorge in southern France; sealed off for 25,000 years by a rock fall, the cave was found to contain amazing drawings and paintings, some estimated to be 32,000 years old and in exceptional condition.

The paintings are of animals - horses, rhinos, lions, bears, bison,  their beauty preserved after all this time. Director Werner Herzog was given special access to the cave by the French Government and  has used the 3D filming process with tremendous creativity to make this an especially beautiful film in the way he has captured the paintings which adorn the curved rock faces. This film provides a unique experience to see the oldest human paintings known to be in existence in the next best way to seeing them in person.

THE GUARD (Sunday 26 February 2012 7.20pm)

THE GUARD (Sunday 26 February 2012 7.20pm)

Garda, Sergeant Gerry Boyle (Brendan Gleeson) is a very laid-back and politically incorrect representative of the forces of law and order in Galway, on Ireland's west coast where many of the locals don't speak English. Boyle is assigned a new partner, McBride (Rory Keenan), an eager beaver who has the bad luck to run across three very bad guys on his first day on the job.

FBI agent Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle) arrives in Galway to investigate drug running and his uptight nature causes much consternation when he comes into contact with Boyle and his laid-back style. This odd couple pairing provides the basis for this humorous and action packed cop romp.
